
Keeping People Warm in Wet Zones
Ever tried to heat a changing room or an outdoor transition area? It’s a nightmare. You’ve got moisture everywhere, splashes on the floor, and usually a draft that makes any normal heater useless. The problem is that most heaters try to warm up the air. But in a space like this, the warm air just floats away or gets sucked out the door. It’s a waste of energy. Built to take a beating
Since these live in “wet zones,” they can’t be fragile. We use an IP66 rating, which is just a fancy way of saying you can practically blast these things with a water hose and they won’t blink. We tuck the heating element inside tempered glass or quartz and use gaskets that don’t crack or shrink when they get hot and cold over and over. The outer shell is powder-coated aluminum. It keeps the internal wiring cool and stops the humidity from eating through the metal.
No waiting around
Nobody wants to stand in a freezing locker room waiting ten minutes for a heater to “kick in.” Shortwave tech is fast. Like, really fast. It hits peak temperature in seconds. We pack a lot of power into these units so the heat can punch right through those cold gaps in the air. You flip a switch, and you’re warm. Simple as that.
A few things to watch out for
Now, there is a catch. These high-wattage lamps pull a lot of juice. You can’t just plug these into any old outlet. You need to make sure your breakers and wiring can handle the initial surge. If you skimp on the cable size, you’ll get a voltage drop, and your “high-heat” lamp will end up feeling like a lukewarm toaster. Also, placement is everything. If you mount the lamp too low or at the wrong angle, you’ll end up with scorching hot spots on the floor. Too high, and you won’t feel a thing. Get the height right, put it on its own dedicated circuit, and you’re set. The hardware does the heavy lifting from there.
